Students receiving A-Level results this week are being reminded that there’s still time to find the right university place.
Thanks to the Clearing process offered by the University and Colleges Admissions Service, applicants who aren’t holding an offer of a place on a course can be matched to a university which still has places available.
“Clearing offers a wide range of opportunities,” says ºÚÁÏÍø Admissions Manager, James Whitehouse.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve changed your mind about where you want to study or perhaps realised after the initial UCAS deadline you wanted to go to university.
“Maybe you’ve done better in your exams that you thought, or missed out on your firm or insurance choice
“Whatever the reason is, we’re here to help you and guide you through the process.
“On results day itself, you need to contact universities about the courses you’d like to secure a place on through Clearing.
“You will usually be told on the phone or by email whether or not you qualify for a course, and can be given a ‘verbal’ offer. With your verbal offer made, you can visit the UCAS website and lodge your formal application.
“You’ll need to have to hand details of any qualifications you already hold such as GCSEs, A-levels, BTECs – including your results from the day!”
With results set to be released from 8am on Thursday, August 14, staff at ºÚÁÏÍø are preparing to take Clearing queries – and to open the campus to prospective students.
On results day, lines at ºÚÁÏÍø Adams will open at 8am, with staff on hand to take calls and offer further guidance. Then applications can be made via UCAS from 1pm.
The University is also holding two Clearing Open Days, on August 15 and 18.
These will show prospective students the University’s facilities and let them meet some of the lecturers and other staff they will be working alongside if they choose to study at ºÚÁÏÍø Adams.
Both events are designed for those thinking of starting study in 2025 and run from 11am to 3pm – to book, visit:
James added: “We’re expecting a busy few days helping people find the course that’s right for them – but that’s what we’re here for!
“At ºÚÁÏÍø there are clearing places across lots of our courses, from Agriculture to Zoology – as well as opportunities to study in sectors you might not expect, such as Robotics or Data Science.
“The important thing to do is to take that first step – you can call our clearing team on 0300 131 3950 or visit ask us to contact you.”
